Mark & Diane Shade are missionaries living in Managua, Nicaragua.
While living in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and visiting Nicaragua on short term missions trips in 2012 and 2013, the Shades heard God's call to be missionaries with BMDMI in Nicaragua.
In 2015 the Shades were approved as career missionaries by the board of directors of BMDMI. After raising the necessary support, Mark & Diane moved to Nicaragua in May of 2016. They attended language school in Managua while also living with a Nicaraguan host family.
Enjoying an immersion style learning experience for culture and language, they continued to study Spanish at an international language school.
Late in 2016, they began their ministry in earnest, while continuing to learn about the language and culture of Nicaragua.
Mark and Diane felt that God had called them to give up nearly everything in their lives of (then in the U.S.) and start a new life from scratch in Nicaragua. Mark closed a successful concessions/food truck business and Diane left a great career job at an interntaional oil company.
The ministry of Mark and Diane can best be summed up as "being like Barnabas to local pastors - encouraging them, assisting them, lifting the up to help them reach the people of Nicaragua even better". This ministry includes support of the local BMDMI churches with Nicaraguan pastors through Nicaragua - about 30 churches in all. The Shades have a variety of ways that they do that and you can read about them here.
